This Family Owned business is owned and operated by Trent, who has located a variety of public and private utilities throughout Washington state and North Idaho for nearly 20 years, including four years in Lewis County. At Twin City Locating, LLC, we can help to mark the utilities in your work area, for a fraction of the cost of paying someone to drive to/from Portland or Seattle. By using multiple methods and tools while on-site, we can provide you with the confidence that all of the utilities in the work area that can be located are marked.

Please note - As owner operator, I perform these jobs after my typical M-F day time job locating for a municipality... As such, these availability spots are for 4pm and later (as long as there's daylight) or scheduled weekend services. There is no upcharge rate for weekend locating. Our Services
EM LOCATING
Using EM (Electromagnetic) locating by sending a radio frequency through a target utility/line by creating a closed circuit with a transmitter with one lead connecting to the wire, sheath, or ground of the line and the other lead being grounded.
This is what creates the circuit closed. We use a receiver to locate that target utility's radio frequency and mark the route and depths. We mark, with paint and/or flags, along with depth readings along the path prior to any digging or excavating through the work area. Once the line is located, we disconnect the transmitter, and move to the next applicable line needing located.
This does not require disconnection or interruption of service, and will not be noticed by the user of the utility.
Doing this will help ensure you will find any applicable utilities to minimize downtime, project delays, costly repairs, and ensure excavator safety.
This service can typically locate all power, telecoms, conductive pipes/utilities, tracer wires, or sewer laterals and conduits with an accessible cleanout up to 100' in length.
We also offer a sewer camera with a transmitter attached to locate laterals as well as water lines that have been disconnected that can be rodded.
Limitations for this are nonconductive water or gas lines without tracer wire or poly as common unlocatable lines.
This service is for the first hour after arrival, and $90 per additional hour.
90% of homeowners will require less than 1 hour.

GPR LOCATING
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology is used for unlocatable utilities such as nontraceable water or gas. We can also use it to find things that are otherwise unlocatable but may be needed; such as cesspools, Underground Storage Tanks (UST)/Heating Oil Tanks, or underground voids.
GPR is commonly used for various buried utilities that are not conductive for radio frequencies or with tracer wires include irrigation, water lines, some gas lines, storm lines, sewer laterals with no accessible cleanouts as well as others.
There are limitations for this method; such as the size of the utility (very small lines that are deep), depths (the deeper the utility, the less reliable the signal returned to the antenna), the consistency of the ground (such as moisture content or general makeup) and terrain.
A relatively flat and unobstructed terrain is required for this method to work.
This method can require a significant amount of time for multiple runs to eliminate false positives and narrow the correct run of a utility. This is true if the property owner has is unsure of what utilities are on the property. If there's an idea, it can help shorten the time needed.
There is a 2 hour minimum, and larger properties or work areas can require longer times.
This service is for the first two hours after arrival, and $125 per additional hour in 30 minute increments.
